Dr. Richard Carr, Dentist + Practice Owner
I am the practicing General Dentist and owner of Liberty Village Dental. I was born and raised in Toronto and moved to London where I attended The University of Western Ontario and completed my undergraduate education. After receiving my Honours Bachelor of Science degree, I attended The University of Detroit Mercy of Dental Medicine where I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree.
I have practiced dentistry in the Toronto area for the past 25 years and pride myself not only on my skills as a dentist, but honesty and compassion. I aim to treat every patient as I would treat my closest family members. I consider myself a dentist with a conservative mindset and will only advise procedures that are in the patient’s best interest. I create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere and have been told that my music selection makes coming to the dentist fun.
In my free time, I enjoy whipping up new recipes in the kitchen or dining out at the latest trendy restaurants. My hobbies include bike riding, swimming or going for outdoor hikes with my family. If I am not watching the BNN channel, then the next best thing would be sports. I am a true Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan.BOOK AN APPOINTMENT

Michelle De Souza, Dental Hygienist
My passion and commitment to the world of dentistry evolved from a co-op program I was fortunate enough to be selected for in high school. The experience inspired me to work toward a diploma in Preventive Dental Assisting and my career was in full bloom soon after. An incredibly skilled Dentist allowed me to observe a variety of procedures up close for the next 18 months and it made me hungry for more. I returned to school and received my diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2003.
I joined the Liberty Village team in March 2019. Many years after that life-changing co-op placement, I remain excited by my work and continually search for techniques to improve the services I provide. My primary focus is to create a comfortable experience for all my patients, through realistic goals that suit your lifestyle. I look forward to beginning our journey toward a healthy and vibrant smile you can be proud of.BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
Shelby Abraham, Dental Hygienist
Hey there! I’m Shelby, and I’ve been a dental hygienist for 7 years. I have a genuine passion for dentistry and helping people, and dental hygienists are medical professionals who help you put your money where your mouth is!
I’m thrilled to be a part of Liberty Village Dental – it’s a fun place to be and the environment fully embodies the ambiance of its amazing staff and its exciting community members. I love learning about my patients and their concerns in order to provide the best patient-centered care possible. To keep my patients well-informed, I continuously learn and upgrade my own skills and knowledge through coursework and training, and this journey helps me provide you with the best options and treatment procedures available. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like, as communication is key to a successful appointment.
On a lighter note, I love hearing about anything and everything you have going on in your life during our time together. I can talk anything from hoops to hairdos, or we can work in silence too if that’s what you prefer. I want to make your next dental visit comfortable, educational, and fun, while helping you achieve your oral health goals at the same time. If I hassle you over your brushing technique or flossing frequency, please understand I’m not trying to mother you, I just care as much as she does!
As for myself, when I am not thinking about teeth, I keep active spending time with my beloved fur baby examining her teeth, traveling the world observing other people and their own teeth, and trying out different cuisines so I have more reason to brush my own teeth…teeth, Teeth, TEETH!
Looking forward to our next appointment!BOOK AN APPOINTMENT

Maria Luisa Fernandez, Dental Assistant
I was a former Radiographer in Dubai and worked for the Ministry of Health for so many years. Upon coming to Toronto, I then worked as an Administrative Assistant at St. Michael Hospital in the department of general surgery. It was this experience that made me want to get more involved on a patient level and decided to go back to school.
I obtained my diploma in Intra Oral Dental Assisting at the National Academy Health Science and Business in Toronto in 2016. After graduation, I wrote my National Dental Board exam and passed and became an active member of the Ontario Dental Assistant Association. I have worked in many different dental clinics in Toronto which has allowed me to gain experience in all areas of dentistry.
I joined the team at Liberty Village Dental in July 2020. My goal as a Dental Assistant is to give the upmost care while making every patient feel comfortable when in the office. I believe that a smile is the prettiest thing you will wear.BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
Megan Allan, Clinical Floater
My full name is Megan, but you can call me Meg. I started my journey into dental just a few years ago as a Receptionist and now currently work as the Clinical Floater. I did not have a previous healthcare background unless chatting with the pharmacist while arranging the shelves at Shoppers Drug Mart counts. For me, dental is the sweet spot between health and aesthetics. I recently started my Orthodontic journey with Dr.Sky which has been so fun and fascinating. If you have thought about doing braces, just do it as it was the best decision I have ever made. I have developed a strong passion for this industry and plan on completing the Dental Assistant program at George Brown in the near future. I also couldn’t leave out that I love dogs!!!BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
Farhana Tabassum, Receptionist
I am Farhana and I joined Liberty Village Dental in late 2020. I have a background in Business & Technology Management, now you may be wondering why dentistry? Given the way 2020 has been chaotic & unpredictable, I wanted to work in a field where I am able to help people understand and meet their needs while putting a beautiful smile on their face and what’s a better way to start than working at Liberty Village Dental. My time here has been very knowledgeable and informative & I cannot wait to share that with you from the beginning to the end of your appointment. For someone who is new to dentistry, I understand how confusing and stressful it can be for patients who don’t visit the dentist on a regular basis. I am here to make sure you are being well informed during your visits and you will walk out with a better understanding of your treatment plan along with your insurance coverage!
When I am not in office, I love to do a lot activities throughout my day such as cooking, cleaning, reading & hanging out with my furry best friend! Oh, and you can always find me on a patio sipping drinks with my friends!
I look forward to our next appointment and feel free to bring in any questions you may have!BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
